MATERIAL
Vermeil is another term for gilt. We make Van Peterson vermeil jewellery with sterling silver and plate it in 18ct yellow or rose gold.
STONE
Carnelian, also called cornelian, is a translucent, semiprecious variety of the silica mineral chalcedony that owes its red to reddish-brown colour to colloidally dispersed hematite (iron oxide). It is a close relative of sard, differing only in the shade of red. It is most commonly found in Indonesia, Brazil, India, Russia, and Germany.
